In reply to <a href="https://dudedisciple.com/how-to-stop-sinning/#comment-1932">ELIZABETH</a>.

I want to thank you for sharing this analogy about using our cardboard wings and falling because of the law of sin. I have been a Christian since I was 12 years old I've been a worship leader God has gifted me with an incredible voice and I can sing and bring people to tears in worship. However I've always struggled with sexual sin and it grieves my spirit so much because I know it grieves God. When I was 21 years old I asked the Holy Spirit to leave me so that I could go and experiment with these sins because I didn't want him to see what I was doing and I was ashamed. However that caused me to feel that I had blasphemed the Holy Spirit later on when I started feeling conviction and terror about my situation. I am now 65 years old a very young 65 and still have my energy youth figure and health. I am on a renewal journey with Jesus because I have just recently retired from teaching special education students for 28 years and they adored me. I want to find a way to almost naturally overcome sin without thinking about it anymore. I want to be so close to Jesus and love him so much that those sins will no longer plague me or their attraction and then, later, the conviction and sadness because of what I've done against God's will.
We need to pray for each other constantly. we have all been promised that Yeshua will never leave us or forsake us and that one day we will stand before him in Heaven when this life is over and He will say "enter because of your belief in my son; because you are my friend and a believer." I want to hear those words from Jesus and I know that I continue to struggle but somehow, some way, there has to be a mode or method for us to get rid of the habits. It's one thing to fall once in awhile and struggle but it's another thing to continually do the same things over and over again when you know they are wrong. And this is where the guilt and confusion and self condemnation comes in. Satan loves this because he can get us to believe that we are unreachable by God. But that is a lie. God never leaves us or forsakes US and I am so grateful for this topic because it's helped to heal my mind again. Thank you in Jesus name, amen.

Hi Anna, stepping away from God for a time does not mean you were not saved. If you received Jesus into your life and were born again, He promises that He will never leave you or forsake you. Even in the moments when you were not praying or reading the Word, as long as you did not renounce Him, He was still with you. You can come back to Him at any moment, and He is always there for you.

A few years ago, I believed and trusted in Jesus. Every day, I read the Holy Scriptures and prayed. Unfortunately, I later neglected this for several years, but I always prayed at least in the morning and evening, and I also read the Word of God from time to time. However, for some time now, I have been trying to pray and read God's Word regularly again. Does the fact that I didn't do it for so long, and even confessed these sins to God, mean that I was not saved, or was it just a temporary fall?

Hello my name is Gabrielle, I’ve been struggling with the sinful nature of lust since the age 12 (now turning 18) due to being exposed to images, tv shows, etc. at such a young age. This article truly helped me grasp what I’ve been condemning myself for, for years. I’ve been growing closer to God and have seen a decline in my lustful habits but I still fall back into sin every now and then. I’m scared and lost and I’m going to try reading the Bible more to grow closer to god once more. A prayer of guidance would be amazing. Thank you!

I am brand new to this site. I am 45 years old, and was born again in February of 2007, and then followed through with Believer’s Baptism on Mother’s Day in 2007. I was called to the ministry in June of 2022, and I serve as the Youth Pastor for the local church in my hometown. I love my Heavenly Father, and I’m so thankful that he loved me so much that he sent his only begotten son Jesus Christ to the Cross of Calvary to die for my sins and for the sins of the world. After we come to Christ and we are regenerated or born again of the Spirit which lives in the one who has repented of his sins, put his faith in Christ, and lives a life of obedience to God the sanctification process begins. This is a very long process that will have many mountains and many valleys. I have been a disciple of Jesus Christ for 18 years, and I still screw up and struggle with sin everyday of my life. Some days are better than others, and I have my weaknesses just like everyone else. I also have a problem with trying to strive and defeat sin in my own power, and when this happens I always fall short, miss the mark, and inevitably yield into temptation do something that God doesn’t agree with which is called sin. What I am still learning today after 18 years of being born again and having the Holy Spirit inside of me is that it is not about STRIVING but instead it is about ABIDING. Striving is trying in my own fleshly power while abiding is allowing the Holy Spirit to work in my life by believing that I am no longer identified by my fleshly and carnal mind and body, but instead I am identified by who Jesus Christ says I am when I repented of my sins and put my faith in him. When I die and face God almighty at judgement he will not see my nasty and sinful flesh that is bound for hell because of Adam, but he will see the precious blood of his son Jesus Christ covering me from head to toe. My salvation has nothing to do with me. It has everything to do with what Jesus Christ did for me over 2,000 years ago.

Ask the elders of the church to get you healed and delivered. Sounds like demonic influence. Ask God to help you get rid of any object in the home that might be a culprit or a trigger or an idol outright. Ask God to soften your heart and not let it harden like those who died in the Sinai desert or like Pharaoh heart hardened because of being obstinate and disobeying God constantly. Fast and pray and ask for prayer from the brethren. You cannot do this on your own! May God rebuke the evil spirits with you and make them flee from you in Jesus name, EAmen!
