Have you ever had a moment where you felt like you didn’t have enough faith?
Sometimes we’re taught that in order for us to get more faith we need to muster it up by trying to convince ourselves of Gods promises.
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭17:19-20 says:
“Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not drive it out?” And He *said to them, “Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.”
Jesus said that the disciples could not drive the demons out because of the littleness of their faith.
But then He goes on to say if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you can move a mountain.
If you think about it, mustard seeds are very little. So if it only required a little bit of faith to move a mountain, why couldn’t the disciple cast out a demon when Jesus just said that they already had a little bit of faith?
Simply put, there is only one person who can move a mountain with faith the size of a mustard seed... it’s Jesus.
You see, faith that comes from us doesn’t move anything... it’s just self confidence.
In order for it to be real faith it needs to come from Christ. Jesus is the author and perfector of our faith (Hebrews 12:2) which means that He is the very source of faith.
So then how do we get more faith?
Romans 10:17 says that “faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”
True faith comes from hearing and receiving the spoken word (rhēma) of God.
However, in order for us to truly hear and receive Gods word (and the faith that comes with it) the Lord will first empty us of our self confidence.
The moment we realize we can’t do something on our own is when we become open to allowing the Lord to do it His way.
When we surrender our will, the Lord is able to plant His word on good soil, which produces fruit in our lives.
The good soil that produces a harvest of 100, 60, or 30 times what was sown is only dependent upon how much a person has surrendered himself to the will of God in every aspect of their life.

Stability In your Relationship With God

Have you ever felt like your life was an emotional roller coaster of ups and downs?
For example:
One day you feel good and are joyful in the Lord because your life is going great. The next day you’re upset and have a hard time coming to the Lord because you doubt that He has your best interest in mind.
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭40:4‬ ‭says:
“Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain.”
The Lord wants to level the uneven places in your life and bring stability so that you can be steadfast in any circumstance.
But He never does it by giving you better circumstances.
That’s because we get used to coming to God to ask for better circumstances, which only leads to an emotional fall later when things get tough again.
Instead, God wants to teach us to become completely satisfied in who He is in every moment and to abide in the finished work of the cross.
This means that He has to detach us from what He can give us and what He can do for us in our relationship with Him.
He does this by taking us through the fire and burning away everything that we are still holding on to that controls our relationship with Him.
Although this process often hurts, it ultimately brings stability and peace into your life by creating a no-strings attached relationship with Jesus that isn’t dependent on an outcome.
