<p>Romans 12:2 says “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect”<br></p>

<p>What exactly does that mean and how do you go about renewing your mind?<br></p>

<p>In this post, I’ll show you how to renew your mind with the word of God through 2 easy-to-apply methods that have helped me change the way I think.</p>

<p>Let’s dive in!<br></p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>The Importance of Renewing Your Mind</strong></h2>

<p>The Bible calls us to renew our minds by changing the thought patterns and beliefs within our minds.<br></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="465" src="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/change-thoughts-1024x465.png" alt="" class="wp-image-3245" srcset="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/change-thoughts.png 1024w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/change-thoughts-300x136.png 300w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/change-thoughts-768x349.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Why is this so important?<br></p>

<p>Simply put, it&#8217;s so that: &#8220;you may prove what the will of God is, which is good and acceptable and perfect&#8221;<br></p>

<p>This is only possible through a renewed mind.<br></p>

<p>Did you know that doubt is a result of an unrenewed mind?<br></p>

<p>Often times, God is hindered when the mind of a believer is full of doubt and fear, resulting in &#8216;double-mindedness&#8217;.&nbsp;<br></p>

<p>Many plans that God wants to do through His church are placed on hold as He waits for us to renew our minds.</p>

<p>Until this happens, the gift within us (the Holy Spirit) will never come to full fruit and operational potential.&nbsp;<br></p>

<p>With that in mind, we can see the importance and significance of this calling on every born-again believer’s life. This calling is of great significance because from its realization and application the spirit of God will be enabled to accomplish <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="the will of God (opens in a new tab)" href="https://dudedisciple.com/gods-plan-for-me/" target="_blank">the will of God</a> here on earth.<br></p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>2 Practical Steps To Renewing Your Mind&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>You might be thinking, that’s great, but how can I apply this in my life?<br></p>

<p>The answer is simple, but it’s going to be a challenge to maintain the application of it.&nbsp;<br></p>

<p>You are renewed in mind and transformed into the image of Christ through meditation and application of the word.<br></p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Renewing your mind with the word of god&nbsp;</strong></h3>

<p>First, let&#8217;s talk about how to meditate on God’s word to renew your mind and apply it to your life.<br></p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Step 1:&nbsp;Remove distractions</strong><br></h4>

<p>Practically, meditation on the scriptures requires a commitment in the form of dedicated time.<br></p>

<p>I myself sometimes just need to get away from everything so that there would be no distractions. I would either go somewhere quiet and without people, or close the door to my room and hang a &#8220;devotions in progress&#8221; sign on the handle.&nbsp;<br></p>

<p>This way my family knows that right now is personal time between me and the lord.&nbsp;<br></p>

<p>In short, it’s best if you can find somewhere private so that there will be no distractions. I will also mention that I either leave my phone outside of my room or turn on airplane mode to not be distracted by it as well&nbsp;<br></p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Step 2: Meditate on Scripture</strong><br></h4>

<p>Now, once you are away from distractions and your mind is set on dedicating this time to God, start reading the word.&nbsp;<br></p>

<p>The goal here isn’t to just read a number of chapters. You want to read slowly to take in the meaning of the words beyond the surface level.<br></p>

<p>If something grabs your attention as interesting, dwell on it and think about it. This is the practice of biblical meditation.&nbsp;<br></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="465" src="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/how-to-meditate-on-scripture-3-1024x465.png" alt="meditating on scripture" class="wp-image-3200" srcset="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/how-to-meditate-on-scripture-3.png 1024w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/how-to-meditate-on-scripture-3-300x136.png 300w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/how-to-meditate-on-scripture-3-768x349.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Once the verse you were thinking about has been fully consumed, move on to the next verse.<br></p>

<p>Ponder, meditate, take in, pray it in, then move on to the next verse.&nbsp;<br></p>

<p>If your reading a promise of God, such as one in Isaiah 53:5, the first thing you want to do is receive it. Then, Ask the Holy Spirit to help you believe it and show you how to apply it to your life.<br></p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Step 3: Apply the word to your life</strong><br></h4>

<p>James 1:22 says “But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.”<br></p>

<p>The next step is to begin to apply the word into your life. Do not merely take in the truth, but allow it to take hold of your life by acting on it.&nbsp;<br></p>

<p>For example:<br></p>

<p>If you are worried about your future career, and you are anxious about how things will turn out in your life, Meditate on the verses that applies to that.&nbsp;<br></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="465" src="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/scripture-that-applies-to-life-1024x465.png" alt="verses to renew your thinking" class="wp-image-3204" srcset="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/scripture-that-applies-to-life.png 1024w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/scripture-that-applies-to-life-300x136.png 300w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/scripture-that-applies-to-life-768x349.png 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Like Matthew 6:30:&nbsp;<br></p>

<p>“But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will he not much more clothe you &#8212; you of little faith?”<br></p>

<p>As you bring this anxiety before God, Come to Him with this verse in mind and pray. If I was facing anxiety and fear for the future of how things will turn out, I would pray like this:<br></p>

<p>“Father, I thank you that you watch over me. I thank you that you will take care of me and provide for me and clothe me. As your word says. I thank you that I can trust you, and rely on you. I surrender this worry to you.<br></p>

<p>This is how I would apply that scripture in my own life.<br></p>

<p>Now whenever that fear or anxiety would try to surface in my mind, it would not consume me and bring about worry.&nbsp;<br></p>

<p>Instead, the truth of God’s word (Matthew 6:30) would quickly come to mind and I would &#8220;defeat&#8221; that doubt with the word of God. And as time goes on, my mind will stop thinking along with the thought patterns of doubt and fear and instead, fully trust and believe what the word of God says, resulting in a life of peace through trust in God.&nbsp;<br></p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How To Renew Your Mind By Declaring Scripture</strong></h3>

<p>Another important way that we are called to renew our minds is by declaring the word.&nbsp;<br></p>

<p>This is a practice that is rooted in Philemon 1:6 which says, “that the sharing of your faith may become effective by the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.”<br></p>

<p>Here’s what I mean:<br></p>

<p>Declaring the word is loudly speaking the word over yourself and speaking the truth of God’s word into your life. When you say it like you mean it, you will notice the spirit stirring up within you.<br></p>

<p>For example:<br></p>

<p>2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.”&nbsp;<br></p>

<p><strong>You can transform this verse into a declaration like this:</strong><br></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="770" height="508" src="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/declarations-from-scripture-1.png" alt="declarations from scripture to proclaim over yourself" class="wp-image-3213" srcset="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/declarations-from-scripture-1.png 770w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/declarations-from-scripture-1-300x198.png 300w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/declarations-from-scripture-1-768x507.png 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 770px) 100vw, 770px" /><figcaption><em><a href="https://www.jglm.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="From John G lake Ministries &quot;New Man&quot; Study (opens in a new tab)">From John G lake Ministries &#8220;New Man&#8221; Study</a></em></figcaption></figure>

<p>Whenever I’m driving or outside, I begin to speak these declarations over myself with a good strong voice. I don’t shout them at the top of my lungs, (although you can) but I also don’t say it quietly with a mellow tone either.<br></p>

<p><strong>Here’s how I apply these declarations practically throughout my day:</strong><br></p>

<ol class="wp-block-list"><li>I Start by declaring the word for 5 to 10+ minutes.&nbsp;</li><li>Then I pray in tongues to solidify the word and build myself up (1 Cor 14:4)</li><li>Next, I meditate and think about the words I spoke earlier.</li><li>Repeat it all over again</li></ol>

<p>Your order can be different. This is not supposed to become a formula, but a guideline.&nbsp;<br></p>

<p><em>I strongly recommend watching<a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label=" John G Lake ministries “new man” seminar series (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mkGsjDhqcY&amp;list=PLSoCZbZ_YGlTEOyy6b305M4PPmeHELdM5" target="_blank"> John G Lake ministries “new man” seminar series</a>. The information goes in much more depth than I do here.&nbsp;</em><br></p>

<p>The effect of declaring the word in this way for an extended period of time is extraordinary.&nbsp;<br></p>

<p>It is exactly the same as when a preacher speaks the true word on stage until he or she comes “under the anointing” as some would say (this is not true by the way, that preacher is not any more anointed than you are).&nbsp;<br></p>

<p>What is actually happening is that the spirit within that preacher is stirred up by the preaching of the word or the declaration of the word.<br></p>

<p>Great things happen when the spirit of God is given control in such a way!&nbsp;</p>

<p>Each born again believer can with time and practice, do the same thing. From that place in the spirit the true prophetic flows, physical and internal healing is gifted to others, the kingdom of God comes, and the will of God is done.&nbsp;<br></p>

<p>It all comes down to the renewal of the mind, Which results in single-mindedness, and faith.<br></p>

<p>If our minds were renewed to just these 17 declarations, The life we would live with Christ would look radically different.&nbsp;<br></p>

<p>It is an exciting thing to realize that you can come into all the riches in christ simply by committing to renewing your mind. Because in truth, your unrenewed mind is all that is keeping the spirit of Christ from doing what He always wants to do.&nbsp;<br></p>

<p>Remember what I said earlier, the application of this is much more difficult to maintain than it is to learn. But if you have the grit, you will accomplish God’s will for your life.&nbsp;<br></p>

<p>You will see God’s kingdom come and His will be done here on earth as it is in heaven.&nbsp;<br></p>

<p>By the reading, declaration, meditation, and application of the word of God, you can renew your mind like never before.<br></p>

<p>Today I’m going to show you 3 practical tips for overcoming the spirit of fear in your daily life and decision making.<br></p>

<p>In fact, I have used these 3 tips in my walk with Christ to keep fear out of my life and keep me in a constant state of peace (even in high-pressure situations like preaching).<br></p>

<p>The best part?<br></p>

<p>They’re all centered around the Prince of Peace himself (Jesus!)<br></p>

<p>Let’s get into it.<br></p>

<p><strong>Table of Contents</strong><br></p>

<p><strong><a href="#where">Where does the spirit of fear come from?</a></strong><br><strong><a href="#peace">Practical Tip #1: Peace in Your Daily Life</a></strong><br><strong><a href="#patterns">Practical Tip #2: Removing Thought Patterns of Fear</a></strong><br><strong><a href="#decisions">Practical Tip #3: Overcoming Fear in Decision Making</a></strong></p>

<iframe loading="lazy" title="How To Overcome Fear As A Christian | 3 Tips to Perfect Peace in Jesus" width="668" height="376" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/_obxpxXokZ8?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>
</div></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="379" src="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/causes-of-fear-1024x379.png" alt="what causes the spirit of fear" id="where" class="wp-image-2864" srcset="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/causes-of-fear-1024x379.png 1024w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/causes-of-fear-300x111.png 300w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/causes-of-fear-768x284.png 768w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/causes-of-fear.png 1350w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What causes the spirit of fear to come?</h2>

<p>Whenever our minds are not centered on Christ, fear will often try to make its way into our life uninvited.<br></p>

<p>Sometimes it can happen randomly:<br></p>

<p>You’re driving in your car and all of a sudden you’re overcome with a sense of fear. You don’t know where it’s coming from or how it got there, yet here it is.&nbsp;<br></p>

<p>But Most of the time, <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label=" (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.verywellmind.com/the-psychology-of-fear-2671696" target="_blank">Fear&nbsp;comes</a> from a lie that you may have believed about yourself, God, or a certain scenario. (More on this in practical tip #2)<br></p>

<p>Regardless of the situation, you want to address the fear as soon as possible so that it doesn’t continue to bring you down.<br></p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Here are 3 of my favorite ways to</strong><strong> overcome fear as a Christian</strong><strong>:</strong><br></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="379" src="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/walking-in-peace-1024x379.png" alt="peace in Jesus" id="peace" class="wp-image-2897" srcset="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/walking-in-peace-1024x379.png 1024w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/walking-in-peace-300x111.png 300w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/walking-in-peace-768x284.png 768w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/walking-in-peace.png 1350w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>1. Living In Peace Throughout Your Day</strong><br></h2>

<p>This is one of my go-to methods for casting out fear because it’s simple and easy to apply.<br></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="438" src="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/steps-for-peace-1024x438.png" alt="steps to finding peace in your day" class="wp-image-2872" srcset="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/steps-for-peace-1024x438.png 1024w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/steps-for-peace-300x128.png 300w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/steps-for-peace-768x328.png 768w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/steps-for-peace.png 1170w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Whenever I sense thoughts of fear trying to come into my thought life,&nbsp;the first thing I do is reject it.<br></p>

<p>As I reject the fear, I take a moment to center my attention on Jesus. Just like in <a href="https://dudedisciple.com/secret-place-with-god/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="my secret place (opens in a new tab)">my secret place</a>, I give Him my attention and gaze upon his beauty. This is the most important part.<br></p>

<p><strong>Isaiah 26:3 says You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.</strong><br></p>

<p>When you keep your mind on Jesus, His perfect love and peace will follow and bring you into a place of rest.<br></p>

<p>Looking to Jesus, I thank him by acknowledging and proclaiming scripture over myself as a reminder.<br></p>

<p>“Jesus, Thank you so much that you have not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.”(2 Timothy 1:7)<br></p>

<p>Sometimes, even after the fear goes away, I notice that it continues to come back as I think about a specific area of my life.&nbsp;<br></p>

<p>That’s when I have to address it with tip #2<br></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="379" src="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/set-free-from-fear.1-1024x379.png" alt="How to be set free from fear" id="patterns" class="wp-image-2869" srcset="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/set-free-from-fear.1-1024x379.png 1024w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/set-free-from-fear.1-300x111.png 300w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/set-free-from-fear.1-768x284.png 768w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/set-free-from-fear.1.png 1350w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>2. Removing Thought Patterns of Fear In Your Life </strong><br></h2>

<p>Have you ever felt like no matter what you try, the fear keeps coming back?<br></p>

<p>Whenever you notice a constant pattern of fear coming from a specific thought or situation, it’s usually because there’s a lie you’re believing unconsciously.<br></p>

<p>Often times, we can unknowingly come to an agreement with a lie in the realm of our spirit that will produce that fear in our lives.<br></p>

<p>Every time that subject comes up, you feel the fear come over you and you might not even know why.<br></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="438" src="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/spirit-of-fear-symptoms.72-1024x438.png" alt="believing a lie" class="wp-image-2875" srcset="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/spirit-of-fear-symptoms.72-1024x438.png 1024w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/spirit-of-fear-symptoms.72-300x128.png 300w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/spirit-of-fear-symptoms.72-768x328.png 768w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/spirit-of-fear-symptoms.72.png 1170w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>For example:&nbsp;<br></p>

<p>Let’s say you have a fear about your future finances. Whenever you see the letter for the rent come in, you begin to feel it.<br></p>

<p>Where is this fear coming from?<br></p>

<p>It could be that you’ve made an agreement with the lie that your future finances are dependent on your hard work alone and that no one will help you, but yourself.<br></p>

<p>John 8:32 says “you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”</p>

<p>When you know the truth, you&#8217;ll reject the lie with confidence every time it tries to come up. As a result, The fear will have nothing to attach itself to.</p>

<p>So how can we know the truth that will set us free?<br></p>

<p><strong>Here’s how:</strong><br></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="438" src="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/dudedisciple-1024x438.png" alt="3 step activity" class="wp-image-2883" srcset="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/dudedisciple-1024x438.png 1024w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/dudedisciple-300x128.png 300w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/dudedisciple-768x328.png 768w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/dudedisciple.png 1170w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>First, you want to find out where your fears are coming from and what activates them.<br></p>

<p>For one day, take note of every voice or feeling of fear that comes up in your life. Write them down in your notes every time something comes up.<br></p>

<p>For example:<br></p>

<p>You realize you need to go withdraw money from the ATM and a feeling of fear comes over you. Write it down.<br></p>

<p>You think about having kids and you begin to fear. Write it down.<br></p>

<p>And so on…<br></p>

<p>What you’re doing is collecting a list, so that you can address it with truth later and remove it from your life.<br></p>

<p><strong>Then&#8230;</strong><br></p>

<p>Once you have a list of thoughts or situations where you felt fear, find some time to go over this list with the Lord.<br></p>

<p>Going line by line, asking the lord these questions:<br></p>

<p>Jesus, What lie have I believed about myself or about you that I have this fear?<br></p>

<p>or&#8230;<br></p>

<p>What is it that I’m not understanding that is causing this fear?<br></p>

<p>He might answer with: You believe this or that I am this&#8230;<br></p>

<p>Next, Ask the Lord: If that’s the lie, what’s the truth?<br></p>

<p>God might speak something into your life, show you a vision, or point you to scripture.<br></p>

<p><strong>Side Note: If you have trouble hearing God speak, I suggest you check out our <a href="https://dudedisciple.com/hearing-gods-voice/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="ultimate Guide on Hearing God's voice here (opens in a new tab)">ultimate Guide on Hearing God&#8217;s voice here </a></strong></p>

<p>Afterward, you want to repent of believing the lie. It might look something like this:<br></p>

<p>I repent of believing the lie that it is up to me to provide and I receive the truth from scripture that you are my provider and that you own the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10). I receive the truth that your eyes are on me and that you will bless me.<br></p>

<p>Often times you will feel the fear lift off and your heart reacting differently about that situation.<br></p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Bonus Tip: Scripture&nbsp;</strong><br></h4>

<p>One of the biggest things you can do for breaking the spirit of fear in your life is meditating on scripture.&nbsp;<br></p>

<p>As you meditate on the truth, it will start to <a href="https://dudedisciple.com/renew-your-mind/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="renew your mind (opens in a new tab)">renew your mind</a>. When the lies of the enemy come your way, they will have no power over you because you will be standing on the truth.<br></p>

<p><strong>Here are a couple of scriptures that I use personally to meditate on and proclaim over myself:</strong><br></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><a href="https://www.biblestudytools.com/topical-verses/fear-bible-verses/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><img decoding="async" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/ECrK9xE28WWuS3Yi7i1rmNzZ-kHPrFeXWb5GNm2Ztck_30GgRbetXVuRXBkpY33tXL_PM_9S6DZxc3M-FooB7HhxHj2jB6LAq9QxjQ86Ngzpv9MWp21ERdsr8XrqvUxx30z0zG0d" alt="anti-fear scripture"/></a><figcaption><br></figcaption></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="379" src="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/overcome-fear-in-descions-1-1024x379.png" alt="How to overcome fear when making decisions" id="decisions" class="wp-image-2870" srcset="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/overcome-fear-in-descions-1-1024x379.png 1024w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/overcome-fear-in-descions-1-300x111.png 300w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/overcome-fear-in-descions-1-768x284.png 768w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/overcome-fear-in-descions-1.png 1350w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">3. Overcoming The Spirit of Fear in Decision Making</h2>

<p>It can be hard to know the way forward when you allow fear to influence the way you think before you make a decision.<br></p>

<p>Whenever I’m faced with multiple options, I always like to process it with the lord and allow His <a href="https://www.desiringgod.org/articles/the-secret-to-peace-and-contentment" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="peace (opens in a new tab)">peace</a> to direct my steps in making a clear decision.<br></p>

<p>Let me explain.<br></p>

<p>Let’s say you’re faced with 2 options regarding a future decision:<br></p>

<p>Option A, which brings with it one set of positive and negative outcomes, and Option B, which brings with it another set.<br></p>

<p>As you consider the options, the enemy may try to introduce fear into your thinking &#8211; that if you do Option A, it could be a mistake for this or that reason, and that Option B could also be a mistake for this or that reason.&nbsp;<br></p>

<p>When this happens, here’s what I do:<br></p>

<p>As I spend time with Jesus, I start thinking over the beauty of Option A and present it before Him. I remind myself of His promise to me that He will never leave me and never forsake me.&nbsp;</p>

<p>&#8220;Lord, how should I be looking at this?&#8221; I ask and I rest. Many times, He will begin to lead your thinking about the situation. You have to have childlike faith that He does answer, and often, very quickly.&nbsp;<br></p>

<p>I realize that if I do Option A, He will be with me. There is a real presence of peace in my inner man.&nbsp;<br></p>

<p>I then spend time processing Option B with Him in the same way and see, if I do that, He will likewise be with me.<br></p>

<p>And so I take the strings of those thoughts and through an act of standing on the Word &#8211; that He will always be with me &#8211; clean those thoughts from every residue of fear.<br></p>

<p>At that point, fear no longer has an influence in my thought life.<br></p>

<p>Sometimes the Lord whispers: Matt, I love living life with my children and empowering their path. You choose one.<br></p>

<p>Other times, I come to sense His vision and peace more for one than for the other. With fear removed, I can sense His perspective and leading so much clearer.<br></p>

<p><strong>In Conclusion…</strong></p>

<p>Jesus never had a thought which was based in fear. He went into every situation, every conversation, and every thought process about the future with peace in His heart.<br></p>

<p>So can you!<br></p>

<p>As you continue to keep your mind on Him and walk in the truth of what He says about you, He will keep you in perfect peace in all that you do.<br></p>

<p><strong>Now I want to hear from you:</strong><br></p>

<p>Which one of these tips will you try first?<br></p>

<p>What has helped you overcome fear in your life?<br></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Have you ever struggled to share the Gospel with people around you?&nbsp;</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Maybe you don’t know how to do it or what to even say.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">If you&#8217;re looking to improve your evangelism skills and find new methods of sharing the Gospel, this is the post for you.</span></p>

<p>In this post, I cover:</p>

<ul><li>What the Gospel message is</li><li>What The Gospel isn&#8217;t</li><li>20 methods of evangelism that you can use right away to tell non-believers about Jesus.<span style="font-weight: 400;"></li></ul>

<p>Let&#8217;s dive right in&#8230;</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Table of Contents&nbsp;</strong></h3>

<p><strong><a href="#misconception">The Common Misconception</a></strong><br><strong><a href="#thegospel">What Is The Gospel Message?</a><br></strong></p>

<p><strong>20 Methods of Evangelism</strong><br><a href="#methods">Quick Methods of Evangelism</a><br><a href="#in-depth">In-Depth Methods</a><br><a href="#question">Sharing&nbsp;The&nbsp;Gospel&nbsp;Through&nbsp;Questions</a><br><a href="#visual">Visual Demonstration Methods</a><br><a href="#children">Child Evangelism Methods</a></p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="misconception"><b>The Common Misconception</b></h2>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Sometimes people think that sharing the Gospel is telling others that Jesus loves them, saying God bless you or something along those lines. I’ve even heard some say that simply living a Christian life and letting your good works show is enough. You may have even heard the phrase: “</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Preach the Gospel at all times and Use words if necessary.”&nbsp;</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As nice as it might sound, it’s far from true.&nbsp;</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Romans 10:14 says “</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher?”</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">And&#8230;</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Romans 10:17 says that “faith comes by hearing, and <a href="https://dudedisciple.com/hearing-gods-voice/">hearing by the word of God</a>.”&nbsp;</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Telling people that Jesus loves them is encouraging, but it is only a small part of the Gospel. There is so much more than you need to share, otherwise, you get a response that goes something like this:</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“That’s nice, thanks”</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Which almost never leads to repentance.</span></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="455" src="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/jesus-loves-you7-1024x455.png" alt="telling people Jesus loves you" class="wp-image-2504" srcset="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/jesus-loves-you7-1024x455.png 1024w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/jesus-loves-you7-300x133.png 300w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/jesus-loves-you7-768x341.png 768w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/jesus-loves-you7.png 1350w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Also, sometimes people think that evangelism is trying to convert people to Christianity.&nbsp;</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The truth is you can’t convert anyone to Christianity.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The bible says that no one can come to Jesus unless the Father draws them (John 6:44). All we have to do is simply share the good news with people and allow the Holy Spirit to work on their hearts.</span></p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="thegospel"><b>What is the gospel?</b></h2>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Gospel Literally means “good news”. The good news of the Gospel needs to cover 3 major things:</span></p>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li><span style="font-weight: 400;">Why we need to be saved &#8211; Our sin and separation from God (Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23)</span></li><li><span style="font-weight: 400;">How Jesus can Save us: Who he is, his death, and resurrection&nbsp; (2 Corinthians 5:15, John 3:16)</span></li><li><span style="font-weight: 400;">What we must do to be saved &#8211; Repent and Believe (Romans 10:9-10)</span></li></ul>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Or as </span><a href="https://www.gotquestions.org/gospel-message.html"><span style="font-weight: 400;">GotQuestions.com</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> puts it:&nbsp;</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“These, then, are the essential elements of the gospel: the sin of all men, the death of Christ on the cross to pay for those sins, the resurrection of Christ to provide life everlasting for those who follow Him, and the offer of the free gift of salvation to all.”</span></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="455" src="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/essential-gospel-message-1024x455.png" alt="what every gospel message needs to include" class="wp-image-2492" srcset="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/essential-gospel-message-1024x455.png 1024w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/essential-gospel-message-300x133.png 300w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/essential-gospel-message-768x341.png 768w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/essential-gospel-message.png 1350w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;"><br>Now that you know what the Gospel is, check out these </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">creative ways to evangelize to the people around you.</span></p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="methods"><b>Quick Methods of Evangelism</b></h2>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">These methods of sharing the gospel provide for a quick and direct way to share the gospel in situations where you might not have much time to share. It is the simple gospel in short word form through different verses in the bible.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I like to use these short methods with strangers in areas like gas stations, grocery stores, and drive throughs.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">When I find someone who is interested in what I’m saying from these short-form messages, I go deeper with the Gospel.</span></p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><b>The Pray and Say</b></h3>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I like to use this method when I go on outreach events with people on the streets. It’s quite simple, you just tell people that you and some friends are out on the streets praying for people and sharing the love of God. Then, ask them if you can pray for them.</span></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="455" src="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/prayer-evangelizing-1024x455.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2502" srcset="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/prayer-evangelizing-1024x455.jpg 1024w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/prayer-evangelizing-300x133.jpg 300w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/prayer-evangelizing-768x341.jpg 768w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/prayer-evangelizing.jpg 1170w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I would say that about 8/10 people will say it&#8217;s okay for you to pray for them.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Sometimes, I will just pray the Gospel message over them in short form.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Like this:</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“God I thank you for John. Thank you that you love him so much and care deeply about him. I thank you that even though we have messed up and sinned, you gave your only son Jesus to die for him on the cross so that he can have eternal life and so that he can know you personally.&nbsp; Lord, I bless him in Jesus name, Amen.”</span></p>

<p>Once I&#8217;m done praying, I&#8217;ll go into what Jesus did and what we have to do to be saved. Sometimes, I will just pray a simple prayer with them and share the Gospel right afterward.</p>

<p><strong>Here are some other short versions of the Gospel message&#8230;</strong></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Here’s what I understand the good news to be: the good news is that the one and only God, who is holy, made us in his image to know him. But we sinned and cut ourselves off from him. In his great love, God became a man in Jesus, lived a perfect life, and died on the cross, thus fulfilling the law himself and taking on himself the punishment for the sins of all those who would ever turn and trust in him. He rose again from the dead, showing that God accepted Christ’s sacrifice and that God’s wrath against us had been exhausted. He now calls us to repent of our sins and to trust in Christ alone for our forgiveness. If we repent of our sins and trust in Christ, we are born again into a new life, an eternal life with God.&#8221; </span></p>

<p>The five finger method helps you remember 5 key components of the Gospel with just the fingers on your hand. You can make the message as short or as long as you&#8217;d like from these topics. Simple right? </p>

<ol class="wp-block-list"><li><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Jesus’ birth</span></li><li>Jesus&#8217; life</li><li>Jesus&#8217; death</li><li>Jesus&#8217; resurrection</li><li>Jesus ascension</li></ol>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="in-depth"><b>In-Depth Gospel Messages</b></h2>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">One of the most powerful ways of sharing the Gospel is one on one with someone who you have established a relationship with.&nbsp;</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It doesn’t have to be someone you’ve known for a year. It can be someone you’ve just met that you&#8217;ve been able to connect with about something (like a baseball game, the weather, etc.)</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Many times when you try to share the Gospel message in depth with strangers right away, they will try to push you away or just end the conversation as quickly as possible.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Why?</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Because they don’t know you and their walls are up.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">However, As you begin to ask questions about a person, they become interested in who you are. They begin to ask you questions, but more importantly…</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">They lower their walls and begin to LISTEN to what you have to say.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">So whenever you have someone next to you who has time on their hands, (sitting at a bus stop, the DMV, etc.) it’s best to establish a relationship with that person first.&nbsp;</span></p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><b>Walkthrough the Bible Method</b></h3>

<p>One of my favorite ways of going deep into the Gospel is by summarizing key points from the Bible, from beginning to end.</p>

<ol class="wp-block-list"><li>God’s creation</li><li>Adam and Eve</li><li>God’s Love and Purpose for Humanity</li><li>Man’s Sin &amp; Separation from God</li><li>Payment for Sin&nbsp;</li><li>Why our good works cannot save us</li><li>God coming to earth as a man, Jesus Christ</li><li>Jesus’ Life&nbsp;</li><li>Jesus’ Death&nbsp;</li><li>Jesus’ Resurrection</li><li>It is finished &#8211; The price is paid</li><li>The free gift of life and how to receive </li></ol>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">From that point on, I handle any questions or objections that might come up and address those as well.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In the end, I always like to ask if they would like to receive Jesus into their life.&nbsp;</span></p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><b>Testimony Gospel Method</b></h3>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As you develop a relationship with people at work or in school, it’s very normal for them to ask about your life in a conversation. Questions such as: &#8220;Why don&#8217;t you drink?&#8221; allow for an opportunity to share your testimony.&nbsp;</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It’s important to note that your personal testimony is not the Gospel itself, but it’s one of the best ways to incorporate the gospel into your story because it’s a part of your life.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;"><a href="https://arabahjoy.com/20-simple-ways-to-share-the-gospel-personal-ev-project-2/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label=" (opens in a new tab)">arabahjoy.com</a> shows a very easy way of sharing your testimony with the Gospel through Pauls message in Acts.&nbsp;</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Here’s how it goes:</span></p>

<p><b>Read Acts 26:1-23</b></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Then, use these 3 elements to create your testimony:</span></p>

<ol class="wp-block-list"><li><span style="font-weight: 400;">Talk about what your life was like before you received Christ (Acts 26:4-11)</span></li><li><span style="font-weight: 400;">Describe how God spoke to your heart and opened your eyes to spiritual truth. Include the basic facts of the gospel and your response of faith. (Acts 26:12-18)</span></li><li><span style="font-weight: 400;">Finally, share how your life has changed since receiving the forgiveness available in Christ. (Acts 26:19-23)</span></li></ol>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="question">Sharing The Gospel Through Questions</h2>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><b>Way of The Master Evangelism Method</b></h3>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The way of the master method comes from a street evangelist called Ray Comfort who has a unique way of sharing the Gospel with people. This strategy involves walking people through the law by asking questions and then allowing the person to come to the conclusion themselves.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">If you’re looking for some examples of modern-day evangelism, Ray Comfort’s youtube channel is one of the best places to look.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Here is one example of how his method works:</span></p>

<figure class="wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This method of evangelism allows the bible to do most of the talking for you. If you’re not sure what to talk about or how to explain, let the Bible do the work for you.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">First, Ask these questions to the person you’re talking to:</span></p>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li><span style="font-weight: 400;">Do you have any kind of spiritual beliefs?</span></li><li><span style="font-weight: 400;">To you, who is Jesus?</span></li><li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Do you think there is a heaven or a hell?</span></li><li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">If you died tonight, where would you go?</span></li><li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">By the way, if what you were believing is not true, would you want to know?</span></li></ul>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">These five questions, </span>asked in the order listed above, <span style="font-weight: 400;">can help change the conversation from the secular to the spiritual. And if your friend answers &#8220;yes&#8221; to the final question, you will have the opportunity of sharing your faith with your friend.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Instead of directly telling someone the Gospel in your own words, simply open your Bible and let God&#8217;s Word speak for itself.</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> For this to work, you will need a Bible (preferably a small one because small Bibles tend to be less intimidating to non-Christians), and a few salvation passages to share. Some passages that serve this purpose are listed below:</span></p>

<ol class="wp-block-list"><li><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God&#8221; (</span><a href="https://ebible.com/query?utf=8%E2%9C%93&amp;query=Romans%203%3A23&amp;translation=ESV&amp;redirect_iframe=https://www.AllAboutGOD.com/bible.htm"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Romans 3:23</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">).</span></li><li><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord&#8221; (</span><a href="https://ebible.com/query?utf=8%E2%9C%93&amp;query=Romans%206%3A23&amp;translation=ESV&amp;redirect_iframe=https://www.AllAboutGOD.com/bible.htm"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Romans 6:23</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">)</span></li><li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;In reply Jesus declared, &#8216;I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again'&#8221; (</span><a href="https://ebible.com/query?utf=8%E2%9C%93&amp;query=John%203%3A3&amp;translation=ESV&amp;redirect_iframe=https://www.AllAboutGOD.com/bible.htm"><span style="font-weight: 400;">John 3:3</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">).</span></li><li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;Jesus answered, &#8216;I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me'&#8221; (</span><a href="https://ebible.com/query?utf=8%E2%9C%93&amp;query=John%2014%3A6&amp;translation=ESV&amp;redirect_iframe=https://www.AllAboutGOD.com/bible.htm"><span style="font-weight: 400;">John 14:6</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">).</span></li><li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;That if you confess with your mouth, &#8216;Jesus is Lord,&#8217; and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, &#8216;Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame'&#8221; (</span><a href="https://ebible.com/query?utf=8%E2%9C%93&amp;query=Romans%2010%3A9-11&amp;translation=ESV&amp;redirect_iframe=https://www.AllAboutGOD.com/bible.htm"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Romans 10:9-11</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">).</span></li><li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again&#8221; (</span><a href="https://ebible.com/query?utf=8%E2%9C%93&amp;query=2%20Corinthians%205%3A15&amp;translation=ESV&amp;redirect_iframe=https://www.AllAboutGOD.com/bible.htm"><span style="font-weight: 400;">2 Corinthians 5:15</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">).</span></li><li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me&#8221; (</span><a href="https://ebible.com/query?utf=8%E2%9C%93&amp;query=Revelation%203%3A20&amp;translation=ESV&amp;redirect_iframe=https://www.AllAboutGOD.com/bible.htm"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Revelation 3:20</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">).</span></li></ol>

<p>Ask your friend to read a verse out loud and then have them explain the verse to you. Take him<span style="font-weight: 400;"> through all the verses listed above. If your friend interprets a passage incorrectly, don&#8217;t argue or offer your interpretation, but politely ask him to read it again, and then explain it a second time. Misinterpretation should not be much of a problem if you use the Bible verses listed above.&nbsp;</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Even if your friend mentions that he doesn&#8217;t believe in or agree with the Bible, it is best not to argue. You can state that you simply want him to understand what the Bible says about eternity. Isn&#8217;t it wonderful to know that it&#8217;s not our responsibility to convict? Conviction is God&#8217;s job. All we can do is share.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Another great visual method of sharing the gospel can be done by using a $20. This method shows that no matter how many times you crumple or stomp on a $20 Bill, it still has value. It is the same way with people. Even though we have sinned against God and broken his commandments, he still wants us to come to him just as we are and believe in what Jesus did for us.</span></p>

<p>The gospel plane uses colors to explain the Gospel on a folded paper airplane that anyone can do. After the children finish folding the plane, simply share the Gospel according to the colors on the plane template.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">BLACK ~ Our sin separates us from God.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">RED</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> ~ Christ died on the cross as the only payment for our sin.</span></p>

</div></figure>

<p>Today I’d like to talk about a question I’ve heard get asked many times<br></p>

<p>And that is:<br></p>

<p>Is there more to christianity than going to church?<br></p>

<p>There’s this common misconception I hear among people when I ask them, do you believe in Jesus? Or are you a christian?<br></p>

<p>They automatically respond with: <br></p>

<p><strong>“Yes, I go to church”</strong><br></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="379" src="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/is-christianity-about-church-1024x379.png" alt="Is there more to God than Church?" class="wp-image-2362" srcset="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/is-christianity-about-church-1024x379.png 1024w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/is-christianity-about-church-300x111.png 300w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/is-christianity-about-church-768x284.png 768w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/is-christianity-about-church.png 1350w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>But my question was never: “do you go to church?” or “do you attend a meeting of believers?”<br></p>

<p>You see many people associate knowing Jesus with going to church, but that’s not what it means to know Jesus.<br></p>

<p>Church is an expression of Jesus and what christianity is, but christianity is not church. <br></p>

<p><strong>Christianity is following Jesus Christ.</strong><br></p>

<p>I would even say this: <br></p>

<p>That christianity is following Jesus and church is just the people that you follow Jesus with.<br></p>

<p>You see, christianity is a new way of living life in which you follow Jesus together as a church community, as people that love him.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What is Christianity really about?</strong></h2>

<p>If you’re only connection to Jesus is a church service that you gather with people once a week, then you’re missing out on all the glory that God has left for us to experience in following him.<br></p>

<p>And what is that glory?<br></p>

<p>The glory of the christian life is to see Jesus in our everyday life and in everything we do. </p>

<p>As we follow Jesus in every part of our life, we begin to see his kingdom and begin to bring it with us everywhere we go.<br></p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Where do we start on our search for more?</strong></h3>

<p>We start with getting to know Jesus. Christianity is simply knowing Jesus on an intimate level.<br></p>

<p>Not because it’s a requirement or it’s the right thing to do, but because you love him and want to grow in communion with him.<br></p>

<p>As you grow in him, you begin to <a href="https://dudedisciple.com/hearing-gods-voice/">hear him</a> and experience the joy of knowing him. Soon he begins to lead you into the fullness of who he has created you to be.<br></p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How can we truly know Jesus?</strong></h2>

<p>The only way to truly know Jesus is to give yourself completely to him. That means you will have to give him more of your time and devotion.<br></p>

<p>If all you’re giving to God is a church service once a week, you’re really going to be drowning in your spiritual walk because you’re going to be dependent on others to feed you spiritually.<br></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="379" src="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/more-to-christianity-than-church-1024x379.png" alt="christianity is more than going to church" class="wp-image-2364" srcset="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/more-to-christianity-than-church-1024x379.png 1024w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/more-to-christianity-than-church-300x111.png 300w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/more-to-christianity-than-church-768x284.png 768w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/more-to-christianity-than-church.png 1350w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>When you begin to spend time with him, to give your affection to him, and to give your mind to him, he begins to fill your mind with his thoughts and purposes for your life. <br></p>

<p>That’s because God’s desire for christian life is for him to possess you and fill you with the Holy spirit so that he can release the fruits/gifts of the spirit through your life. <br></p>

<p>For this to become a part of your every life and so that their would be no separation between you and God.<br></p>

<p>If you grew up in a divorced family, you know what separation looks like. It’s one of the most terrible things a child can experience. <br></p>

<p>Am I right?<br></p>

<p>Yet this is how many christians treat their relationship with God.<br></p>

<p>We just add God to a church service once a week and separate him from our everyday life, even though He is the source of life. <br></p>

<p>But that’s not how it should be&#8230;<br></p>

<p>God is the essence of life and has come to give us new life, a life that is lived in the spirit (Romans 8)<br></p>

<p>If you’ve believed in Jesus, you have the Holy Spirit in you. However, it’s up to you to allow the Holy Spirit to grow and nurture you. <br></p>

<p>It’s kind of like a plant. <br></p>

<p>You plant it, water it, and position it in the right place under sunlight to allow the plant to grow.<br></p>

<p>This is what we do in the christian life.<br></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="379" src="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/going-to-church-once-a-week-1024x379.png" alt="God gives us life" class="wp-image-2367" srcset="https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/going-to-church-once-a-week-1024x379.png 1024w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/going-to-church-once-a-week-300x111.png 300w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/going-to-church-once-a-week-768x284.png 768w, https://dudedisciple.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/going-to-church-once-a-week.png 1350w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>We come to him to enjoy him, experience him, read his word and &nbsp;have fellowship with him so that the life of the spirit may be alive in us. So that we would be the manifestation of Jesus in our generation.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>There is so much more</strong></h3>

<p>If you&#8217;re hungry for more, God has set the table for you to dine and eat of him (the bread of life)<br></p>

<p>God has prepared so much glory, grace, and encounters for you (and for those around you) that he will reveal through your life as you begin to seek him.<br></p>

<p>He said seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened, ask and it will be given to you (Matthew 7:7)<br></p>

<p>Simply come to Jesus… and receive more. Spend time with him and he will show you what <a href="https://jaysnell.org/links.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="more (opens in a new tab)">more</a> is.</p>

<p>Hope you enjoyed the post</p>

<p><strong>Now I want to hear from you:</strong><br></p>

<p>What does it mean to live a christian life to you?</p>
